In continuation of our letter of the 19th instant I

have the honour to enclose a telegram received this day

from the Governor of Hong Kong, requesting that in addition

to the Coin demanded by the telegram of the 18th instant, a

further supply of $200,000 may be sent out as soon as possi-

ble.

These demands for coin make it necessary to con-

sider the means at our disposal for providing funds for

Hong Kong during the next few weeks. We understand that

it is not desired that we should draw on the Colonial Govern-

ment at present, the funds in its hands being required, for

a time, for the Taipengshan Reclamation.
